Thrash, slash and kill your way to victory!

Made for the Devs that Jam #13, 36 hour game jam. You're a criminal set to be exected for treason, but you're allowed to live for as long as you can last in the Roman Colosseum.

Fight endless waves against ever increasing difficulties of enemies. Multiple enemy types, a shop with upgrades, a fleshed out combo system, with every animation hand drawn, all of which done in only 36 hours!

How many waves can you survive?

Instructions:

Use WASD to move

J (or left arrow) to do a light attack. (hold down this button to do a 3 hit light combo)

K (or down arrow) to do a heavy attack, press either forward, back or down to do different moves.

Heavy attacks can interrupt any light attack, even during or at the end of the light 3 hit combo. Heavy attacks cannot, however, interrupt each other and the forward and down heavies have lots of end lag, but do a lot of damage. The back heavy does much less damage, but hits both infront of, and behind you and doesnt have much end lag, making it a great combo continuation tool.

These guys are pretty simple, they die to 3 light attacks, or a single high damage heavy attack. this changes on round 20 however, as past this, their health increases with each round. they can only do one simple attack, but dont let any of this fool you! these guys can easily stunlock, and combo you in large numbers, and can even stun you into taking a hit from a Zealot, so watch out!

Zealot:


These guys are difficult! They deal a lot of damage by throwing knives at you, and like to keep their distance, they'll even throw their knives when not on screen, so watch out! These guys are tough too, they can take a lot more punishment than the basic enemies, though Zealots only spawn after round 4, and give much more gold when killed.

Tips:

1. Each hit adds one to the combo counter, any gold earned from kills is multiplied by the combo counters number, so try and get it as high as you can.

2. The backwards heavy attack has a small enough end lag that it'll allow you to continue a combo into a new light attack, letting you rack up crazy high combos!

3. Each enemy has a randomized amount of health, for basic enemies its low, and Zealots are quit high. Starting on wave 20, however, every enemy will have thei base max health, plus the wave number divided by 5 added. So on round 20, a basic enemy with 3 health, will actually instead have 7.

4. You can only upgrade your stats a certain amount, as they each have a certain maximum they can reach, think you can max them all out?

5. Because heavy attacks can interrupt any light attack, heavies are great for getting out of sticky situations.
